Celebrity Tequila Brands??

I like tequila. You, probably, like tequila. Them over there? Definitely. Celebrities have been proving recently to also be huge fans of the gorgeous liquors to come out of Mexico, as seen in the number of tequila brands being created by A-Listers.

Perhaps most famously is George Clooney's Casamigos which was launched in 2013. With Clooney are chummy co-founders Rande Gerber and Michael Meldman, who champion their tequilas: blanco, reposado, añejo and mezcal as perfect for drinking straight.

Then, you've got Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson's tequila brand Teremana, which was launched in 2020. Coming from the concept of mana, the Polynesian idea of life energy, Johnson's tequila is currently roadtripping America in a truck, powered by the tagline of "Mana. Gratitude. Tequila." A tequila truck? That sounds awfully familiar.

Rock band AC/DC also contributed to the tequila market in 2016, releasing their Thunderstruck Tequila, named after their 1990 single. Striking stuff.

On a musical connection, '90s favourites Backstreet Boys have... not exactly finished forming their tequila empire of their own. The group stated in an interview with Tasting Table that they love tequila, and would love to have a hand in fermenting some themselves, but just need the right connection in Mexico to get started. So it seems like this is one for everybody to keep an eye on, since Backstreet will be back, alright?

Remember Zafiro Añejo from Breaking Bad? The fictional tequila that is drunk by the cartel members, and (spoilers!) eventually used to poison them? No? Well, on a different note...

Breaking Bad actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have gone in together, not on tequila, but on a brand of mezcal. Called Dos Hombres, the idea came as the two men were talking over sushi about the special connection they share after filming the hit show. Wanting to keep working together, the friends travelled to Mexico and picked up a mezcal they thought was "perfect". We are firm believers of two men getting together over alcohol to sell some more, so we wish them the best of luck.
